Tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN the Redskins (5-6) will take on the Cowboys (3-8) in an NFC East matchup that somehow has major postseason implications. The Cowboys are not mathematically eliminated from a chance at the NFC East crown, but it’s the Redskins who are improbably in sole possession of first place. A win over the Cowboys gives them a full game lead over the Eagles and Giants, and the version of Dallas they’ll face does not include Tony Romo.

Dallas is 0-7 in games not started by Romo. They dropped the first three with since-cut Brandon Weeden at the helm, and have lost four games with Matt Cassel under center, who will be running the show tonight. Cassel will have wide receiver Dez Bryant at his disposal, however.
The player to watch for the Cowboys offensively will be Terrance Williams though. Washington has struggled badly with No. 2 receivers (30th in the NFL per Football Outsiders), and Williams has caught four passes in each of Dallas’ last two games. Bryant has a chance to do more than other No. 1 receivers have before him, however, because the Redskins are without top CB Chris Culliver.
Cowboys Must Start Planning For Life Without Romo
Washington head coach Jay Gruden is staying level-headed about the potential division title, telling ESPN he’s just focused on getting better each game.
"I'm proud of the team to be in this position, how hard they worked, how much they've overcome from a week-to-week basis," Gruden said. "Overall, we have a lot of work to do, obviously, and we're going to continue to get better. That's our goal."
