It appears that PGA star Rory McIlroy is engaged, which may be a bitter pill for women’s tennis stud Caroline Wozniacki. She was engaged to McIlroy just one year ago, before getting dumped by the Irish golfer. Neither McIlroy, nor his girlfriend Erica Stoll have confirmed the engagement, but Wozniacki might have been responding to the rumors on Twitter anyway by liking this photo.
Coming on the heels of her ex moving on from their engagement so quickly, this is tough to chalk up to coincidence. Wozniacki’s life hasn’t been so bad since breaking it off with McIlroy. She has been linked to NFL superstar J.J. Watt, and was recently spotted having dinner with Celtics big man David Lee. She has also run a marathon, and made it to the final of the 2014 U.S. Open since her engagement ended.
McIlroy Finally Replaces Wozniacki For Good
McIlroy’s professional career also gained a boost after he dumped Wozniacki, taking two majors – the U.S. Open and PGA Championship – that summer. McIlroy’s new lady is an employee of the PGA, and has a much lower profile than Wozniacki, an international icon. It was reported that McIlroy proposed to Stoll in Paris. This Instagram post is a frustratingly subtle hint.
