Eagles coach Chip Kelly's reputation precedes him. Still.
Despite back-to-back blowout to sub-.500 NFL teams the last two weeks, despite running off a number of skill players that helped him earn back-to-back 10-win seasons his first two years as coach in Philadelphia and despite a 4-7 record with the replacement players he brought in during his first year as general manager and coach, Kelly continues to generate interest from other football entities for his services.
Eagles Failures Pushing Chip Kelly Closer To USC
Kelly not only was contacted by USC about its vacant head coaching position, but the Tennessee Titans also could be interested, according to a tweet from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport added on NFL.com that Kelly finally may be amenable to a break from the Eagles.
"My understanding is that after the ugly loss to the Lions in front of the entire country, Chip Kelly was despondent, frustrated and feeling the heat for the first time, aware it seems that his job status may actually be in doubt after grabbing all the power this past offseason," Rapoport said. "That said, he seems intent on fixing this issue, understands that his back is against the wall and is looking at making some possible changes with a little mini break after the Thanksgiving Day game.

"But at the end of the season he is gonna face a decision," Rapoport continued. "It seems it is a little bit of a longshot for it to come from another NFL team, but USC still maintains interest in Chip Kelly. ... He is gonna have to make a call on what his future holds after this season with the Eagles ends."
"... Do not discount the Tennessee Titans, especially if Kelly did not want personnel control, which of course would seem to be a huge ask considering what happened in Philly this year," Rapoport said.
The connection to the Titans is obvious: Kelly recruited quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota to play at Oregon when Kelly coached the Ducks.
Especially interesting about Rapoport's comments is the inference that the decision still is Kelly's whether he wants to remain in Philadelphia.
After winning a power struggle with former general manager Howie Roseman for control of the team, Kelly might not agree to relinquish those duties in Tennessee. But if he wants a clean break and wants to stay in the NFL, Tennessee might whether he wants to remain with the Eagles. be the perfect fit.
Especially if USC is higher on interim coach Clay Helton after the Trojans' win over UCLA to advance to the Pac-12 championship game against Stanford.
