Moss Homer Spurs Athletics to Win over Mariners

In a stunning game Saturday, the Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners 7-4. It was Brandon Moss' three-run home which decided the fate of this crucial game in the 10th inning.

The A's inched closer to the Texas Rangers with this close win. Moss's homer in the 10 inning gave the A's their 14th walk-off win.

The A's manager, Bob Melvin was jubilant after the game. "Epic. It's a pretty dramatic win, maybe as dramatic as all."

The Athletics are now just 2 1/2 games behind the Rangers in the division and 2 1/2 ahead of the Angels for the final wild card. The game between the Angels and the Rangers on Saturday was called off due to continuous rainfall. It will now be played Sunday - a doubleheader. The Rays are also 3 games behind the A's.

Josh Donaldson, the Oakland third baseman, said: "Our mind is still focused on trying to go after the division. Every game out there is the biggest game of the year for us. That's the way it's been for the last month."

Kyle Seager and Michael Saunders helped Seattle lead by 4-0 in the fourth inning, when Seager hit a solo shot over the wall and Saunders lined a two-run homer.

Mariners manager Eric Wedge said: "Those guys are feeling it over there. The fans are feeling it. Obviously the players are feeling it. You can sense the excitement in the air."

The A's are playing pretty well at the moment and on current form it seems they are very much in contention for the pennant. The young players in the team have handled pressure very well and every game they play seems to be better than their previous one.

The Athletics will host the Rangers starting Monday for the final three games of the season. The A's would be hoping that the Angels lose the doubleheader on Sunday and the Rays lose to Chicago White Sox to help their chances of clinching at least the wild card spot if they win on Sunday.
