Tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN two Top-15 teams, the No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks and No. 13 Michigan State Spartans will go toe-to-toe in a matchup that can be live streamed free by clicking this link. Jayhawks fans can hear the game on KJHK 90.7 FM, while Spartans fans may do likewise on Detroit 950 AM.
The Jayhawks rank fourth in the country to begin the season, but they won’t have star recruit Cheick Diallo in their arsenal tonight due to an investigation into his eligibility. Do not count Spartans coach Tom Izzo among those whose hearts are bleeding for Kansas coach Bill Self’s plight.
"Hell no I don't want to see him. I mean, do you want me to lie?" Izzo said. "He's a good player, but trust me, they've got enough good players in there without him. Some of those guys have started a lot of games. For Bill's sake, I hope he's eligible. For my sake, he can be eligible the next game."
The loss of Diallo doesn’t mean Kansas isn’t potent. They have a core of experienced players, led by senior Perry Ellis, who scored 16 points in Kansas’ opener. The Spartans will counter with a trio of seniors, Matt Costello, Bryn Forbes and Denzel Valentine, who accounted for almost half of Michigan State’s points in their opener. Transfer Eron Harris is expected to be a key contributor offensively as well, but Izzo told ESPN he would be limited tonight as he deals with plantar fasciitis.
