Jets Hopeful of Revis Comeback

Rex Ryan, head coach for the New York Jets, is still hopeful of making it to the Super Bowl. He even hopes that injury ridden Darrelle Revis will be back in the team this season.

Revis injured his left knee in last Sunday's game and was ruled out for the rest of the season. The Jets however, will wait until he undergoes surgery as his return would certainly boost the morale of the team. He is among those players who raise their game when it matters most for the team.

The Associated Press quoted manager Ryan as saying: "You know what, and I've talked to Darrelle and all that, let's just have him go through surgery.

"Let's see what happens when he goes through surgery because there's that 0.0002 percent chance that he could play in the Super Bowl or something, so why would you take that option away from him?"

The manager is really hoping for a speedy recovery so that he could have his best player participate in the biggest game of the season.

Ryan said: "Let's just put it this way: My thought is, if you're fortunate enough to make it to that big game and he's fortunate enough to be healthy. I know our fans will want him playing just like I would want him playing."

Revis was critically injured in the game against Miami Dolphins on Sunday when he fell awkwardly and grabbed his knee. It was later confirmed that the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee was torn.

Revis's return seems a little unlikely this season but fans are optimistic that the cornerback will make a return soon. Revis was seen working out in pictures posted on Twitter by his agent. That's pretty encouraging for the team.

1995 Rod Woodson playing for Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a similar injury but returned from a reconstructive knee operation soon to play the remaining games of the season. He played the Super Bowl against Dallas. Even Philip Rivers and Wes Welker made a comeback from similar injuries.

"I just want to take him through surgery and see what the doctors say when they're in there, and we'll see what happens," Ryan added. "You don't have to make a snap decision and say, 'Well, let's just place him on IR and replace him with somebody'.

"Like I said, if you are fortunate enough to get (to the Super Bowl), why wouldn't you at least, if he does well in the surgery and he is healthy for that and is targeted for that, why wouldn't you believe in yourself enough to give yourself that opportunity? And, again, I'm not guaranteeing it's going to happen by any stretch."
