Seth Rollins' injury changed the landscape of the WWE, but it also may have hindered a long-term storyline involving Triple H.
After "The Architect" tore his ACL and MCL, it not only necessitated a tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, which ends Nov. 22 at the Survivor Series, but it also cut off the momentum of a potential showdown for him with "The Game."
WWE Blows Major Survivor Series Angle, Bucks Tradition
There have been rumors for months that the WWE was slowly going to build toward a mentor vs. protégé clash between Triple H and Rollins. It was speculated that such a contest would occur at WrestleMania 32 in April at AT&T Stadium, but now it's all but out the window.
Even if Rollins miraculously recovers from his injury to participate at the "Show of Shows," there wouldn't be enough time to properly build up the storyline of a slow turn for the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

For now, Triple H's character has sympathized with Rollins' injury, which is likely true to how Paul Levesque feels outside of the angles. Triple H called the injury that derailed Rollins' title reign "unfair," rather than planting seeds for a potential war.
"Horrible situation. Seth is obviously devastated," Triple H told Michael Cole in their sit down interview. "Everything going his way. WWE World Heavyweight Champion, the man in the WWE, the future of this company. With all of the faith we put in him, all of the faith that the WWE Universe put in him, this is tough."
There have been reports that the WWE has made major re-writes to the plans leading into WrestleMania, having to change course in the absence of the former Shield member. While there was no guarantee a match with Triple H was imminent, there have been a lot of reports that it was the ongoing plan backstage.
For now, Rollins vs.Triple H is on hold.
