Before you make the mistake of handing Tom Brady the NFL MVP after Week 9, consider his competition in Carolina.
History Of Cheating Has NFL Teams Scared To Visit New England
There’s no denying Brady’s success in 2015. The four-time Super Bowl champion is completing 68.6 percent of his passes for 2,709 yards and 22 TDs. His ability to protect the football -- tossing just two INTs -- allowed his passer rating to balloon to 113.5.
It’s still not enough to derail Cam Newton’s MVP campaign.

The Schedule
For all of Brady’s greatness, who exactly has he played?
Granted, the Patriots are 8-0, but that record is with victories over the Steelers, Bills, Jaguars, Cowboys, Colts, Jets, Dolphins and Washington. Those eight are a combined 30-37 and only two -- Pittsburgh and New York -- are above .500.
There is no signature 37-29 victory over the Packers on Brady’s resume, but there is one on Newton’s.
Support Cast
Brady’s numbers have been staggering this season, but what would they look like if he wasn’t able to throw to Rob Gronkowski? What if in place of the established duo of Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola, Brady was asked to turn to Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess.
Lest we forget, Jerricho Cotchery is still a thing in Carolina.
Newton’s numbers don’t stack up to Brady’s, but he’s clearly been asked to do more with less.
The Value In MVP
Take away Tom Brady from the Patriots, what are they? Surely not 8-0, but Bill Belichick has won 11 games with Matt Cassel under center before.
Mind you, the same Matt Cassel that can’t win a single game with the Cowboys.
How many victories is Derek Anderson collecting for Carolina in 2015? Not enough to finish 11-5.
Newton’s value in Carolina can’t be measured by completion percentage, nor passing yards, but they can be measured in victories. With less at his disposal, he’s managed to carry the Panthers to eight of them as well.
