New York hoops legend and former NBA star Stephon Marbury is in danger of losing his condo to foreclosure in his beloved hometown, according to TMZ.
The website reports U.S. Bank International has filed legal documents against Marbury seeking to repossess the property because the former Knicks star hasn't made a payment on the two-bedroom, two-bath residence since March of 2010. TMZ reports he currently owes $844, 035 on the property, which he originally purchased at 2006 at a price of more than $1 million.
TMZ added the bank is requesting that Marbury either make full restitution or surrender the property so it can be sold at auction.
The proceedings mark the second time a foreclosure auction has been brought against Marbury since he left the NBA following the 2008-09 season to play in China. Just last year, he lost an L.A. home to foreclosure.
In all, Marbury played 13 NBA seasons, including five with the Knicks. His best season came in 2000-01 with the then New Jersey Nets when he averaged 24 points and eight assists. Marbury has spent the last three years playing in China where his "Starbury" shoes and clothing line has also proved a huge hit.
