Floyd Mayweather Jr. Next Fight: Manny Pacquiao Admits Negotiations For Rematch With 'Money,' But Fans Are Over It [VIDEO]

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not said anything about returning to the ring after his alleged final fight vs. Andre Berto in September, but the masses who don’t believe his retirement just got some major fuel for their fire.

Manny Pacquiao, whom Mayweather beat on May 2 in the richest boxing match of all time, said himself that he’s in negotiations for a rematch. Whether or not that rematch would be well-received is another matter entirely.

Amir Khan Using Pacquiao As Bait To Score A Mayweather Fight?

Pacquiao vs. Mayweather was a dream fight for years that was continually delayed for many reasons. Both sides pointed fingers, but they eventually worked it out in May, some five years after most fans reached their ultimate fever pitch for it. The fight sold well -- more than four million people purchased the $100 pay-per-view -- but the fight itself was a dud.

Mayweather easily outpointed Pacquiao, who claimed when the fight was over he thought he’d won. Then in the post-fight press conference, Pacquiao revealed he fought with a torn rotator cuff, which damaged the credibility of the entire event even further. Fans’ dissatisfaction was evident when Mayweather’s next fight vs. Berto tanked at the box office, with some sources saying he barely reached 550,000 PPV buys

Freddie Roach Confident Mayweather Loses Rematch to Pacquiao

Pacquiao’s health will clearly be the selling point of a rematch. Typically a whirlwind of offense, Mayweather completely neutralized him in “The Fight of the Century” and actually threw more punches. Since the fight though, both Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach have claimed that he would have won with a healthy shoulder.

Another fighter rumored to be in the mix to face Pacquiao is up-and-coming junior welterweight Terence Crawford, who is 2-0 as a welterweight with two TKO wins, and 27-0 in his young career.

In the likely event Mayweather does not help line Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum’s pockets with another major fight, expect Crawford to take on Pacquiao in what could be his farewell bout.
