A group of Jacksonville Jaguars fans are scheduled to hold a rally in the team's parking lot later today urging management to sign former Florida Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow to a contract, according to ESPN.
Fans are slated to gather at EverBank Field at precisely 3:16 p.m. and the rally is planned to last for three hours and 16 minutes, both apparent nods to the bible verse, John 3:16, which Tebow had inscribed on his eye black during the 2009 BCS National Championship Game.
Now a free agent, Tebow was waived during the preseason by the New England Patriots and since then has attracted public interest from everyone Canadian Football League squads to KISS frontman Gene Simmons' new L.A. Express Arena League franchise.
Jacksonville, meanwhile, is off to an 0-2 start and the play of quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne has been spotty at best. Those on the Tebow bandwagon have also created a jags-tebow.com website, where they assert their mission is "make it clear, we the fans, want the Jacksonville Jacguars to bring in Tim Tebow."
No other NFL team has shown interest in signing the 26-year-old quarterback, who has previously played with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos.
