Boston Celtics News: Perry Jones III and Corey Walden Waived, Trim Roster To Max 15 Players [VIDEO]

According to the official NBA website, forward Perry Jones III and guard Corey Walden had been waived by the team. This is to trim the team to the 15-man roster limit prior to the game's season opener on Oct. 28.

Jones was initially signed in by the Celtics from the Oklahoma City Thunders on July 14 as trade for a second-round pick and funds that would cover his $2 million salary, not to mention his athleticism and capability to defend several positions inside the court. The 6'11" forward managed to get an average score of two points, 1.6 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game in his five games with the team.

Jones seemed to be impressive in practice, according to coach Brad Stevens. In his interview with ESPN, Stevens said that Jones had a chance to become a 'great multi-personal defender,' along with the opportunity to become a player who can contribute by playing off closeouts, making shots, or playing switches.

Meanwhile, Walden was initially acquired by the Celtics on Sept. 25. At 6'2" tall, the guard had averaged five point, 1.5 rebounds, and 6.9 minutes per game in his four games with the team. The training-camp invite is assumed to reach the Main red Claws of the NBA Development League, as per ESPN.
