John Cena Injury [UPDATE]: WWE Superstar No Plans To Return To Raw, Smackdown In October [VIDEO]

Reports surfaced late last week that WWE Superstar John Cena would return to WWE television as a mouthpiece for the company's Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiative in October, but the Cenation leader recently took to Twitter to shoot down those rumors as he continues to work his way back from a left triceps injury that required surgery.

Cena tweeted the following after the reports surfaced:

Cena underwent an operation to repair the left triceps injury that caused his elbow to balloon out and resemble more of a baseball, and is expected to be sidelined for four-to-six months with his most likely return date for in-ring competition being sometime in late January for the WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. However, reports indicated late last week that the WWE was interested in bringing Cena back as a mouth piece for their breast cancer initiative and to possibly have him get involved in the feud that has pitted new WWE Champion Daniel Bryan against Randy Orton, Triple H and the McMahons.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter wrote the following regarding rumors of Cena returning next month:

"While John Cena won't be able to wrestle until around Royal Rumble time, there is already talk of bringing him back to WWE TV in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month," the Wrestling Observer Newsletter read. "Cena wants to start making appearances for the company to help with their big Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. Cena's rehab for his injuries will be one of the storylines for the second half of this Total Divas season also."

Cena, who has been giving the WWE Universe updates on his injury through his Twitter account and has even included photos of his stitched-up wound, shot down those rumors via the social media platform Sunday night as he sat out WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view and apparently will continue to sit out until he's ready for actual in-ring competition.

Cena has been sidelined since the Aug. 19 episode of Monday Night RAW, one night after the SummerSlam pay-per-view, when he announced that he needed the surgery and would miss significant time. Bleacher Report broke news that indicated there was thought within the WWE that bringing Cena back in a non-wrestling capacity may ruin the eventual surprise the company could try and off when Cena is ready to actually return in the ring.

Cena surprised the world at the 2008 Royal Rumble after it was rumored he would miss six months to a year after undergoing surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, but returned in just three months and won the match.

Cena could very well return in October and may just be playing with the minds of his fans, but for now he isn't healthy enough to wrestle and if his tweets are any indication, he has no inklings of coming back to WWE programming until he can step though the ropes and wrestle.
