San Antonio Spurs Rumors: Rasual Butler & Reggie Williams Battle It Out For Last Slot [VIDEO]

Forwards Rasual Butler and Reggie Williams are battling out for the last slot in the San Antonio Spurs lineup.

The 36-year-old Butler -- a 12-year veteran -- has appeared in four preseason games with the Spurs, averaging 3.8 points and shooting 37.5 percent.

The 6-foot-7 Butler is a season removed from averaging 20 minutes per game with the Wizards. However, he believes that he has enough left in the tank for another strong run.

To improve his chances of making the team, Butler has also been playing power forward in the Spurs' small-ball lineups.

On Friday, the 29-year-old Williams will suit up for the Spurs' final preseason game against the Rockets at the AT&T Center.

A 6-foot-6 guard-forward, the six-year NBA veteran finished the 2014-15 season with the Spurs, appearing in 20 games.

Williams averaged four points in playing all five Spurs games this preseason.

After cutting four players Wednesday -- Jimmer Fredette, Youssou Ndoye, Keifer Sykes and Deshaun Thomas -- the Spurs' roster is still at 16.The team must cut at least one more by Saturday, to clear waivers before Monday's 15-man roster deadline, Express News noted.

The Spurs added former UTEP forward Julian Washburn after a wave of cuts Wednesday to bring its roster back to 17, although many don't expect Washburn, a 6-foot-8 forward, to stick around with the San Antonio for too long. The Spurs can retain the D-League rights to four of their training camp cuts.

There is a chance both Butler and Williams can make the team if a player who is owed guaranteed money is waived.
