Olivier Giroud is confident of carrying on from the Coventry City League Cup game after the Arsenal striker netted his first goal for the Gunners.

"This goal has taken the pressure off me. It's done, I have my first goal," he told the club's official website. "But it has to be the start of a beautiful adventure.

"Even unconsciously I was thinking about this first goal. I tried not to think about it but my family, friends and a lot of people were talking to me about it.

"For a striker, it's always good to find the net again. I have an assist already this season but it's not like a goal. For a striker, it's important for the confidence. I hope many more will follow.

"I want to play week in, week out, find my rhythm and keep scoring. I am convinced that with some perseverance, it will come."

Arsenal face Chelsea in the big game of the weekend's English Premier League matches and Giroud is hoping for another good result. "The start of the season has been very positive -- we need to build on that," he continued.

"I feel the players are serene. We're not getting carried away, we know it's just the start of the season and everything goes very quick in football.

"We are still unbeaten and it's very good. We are not conceding many goals and we score a lot so it's very good.

"We will face a big team on Saturday, Chelsea, after a very good performance at Man City. It will be interesting to see how the team copes. (We hope to) continue our march forward, stay unbeaten and come back to just a point behind them."

Adaptability is the key to any player that arrives in the English Premier League, and Giroud is more than willing to put in the long hours in order to get better. "In regards of my adaptation, I feel that there is a lot of room for improvement," he added.

"I feel good, better and better. I need to keep improving how I can hold the ball up as I am playing against tougher defenders.

"I also need to improve in front of goal to be more efficient and clinical. I am working on all of that and I am quite confident for the rest of the season."
