Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Coach Chip Kelly Speaks About Vacant USC Job [VIDEO]

Chip Kelly's mad scientist ways have wreaked havoc on the Eagles, but he doesn't plan on leaving Philadelphia anytime soon.

Following a whirlwind offseason that saw many of the Eagles' star players leave town, the first quarter of the NFL season has been a trying one for Kelly's bunch. The stumbling of the team out of the gate has led to rumors that Kelly could go back to college coaching, a realm he's had plenty of success in.

Kelly has been linked to USC as the school seeks a replacement for Steve Sarkisian, who was placed on indefinite leave due to his struggles with alcohol. Though the Eagles coach could make an ideal successor, he hasn't been contacted about the job, saying, "No" when asked if he was on the list of potential candidates to fill the vacancy.

"I understand that it's gonna happen," Kelly said of the rumors via TMZ. "We're not successful, we're not winning, I came from college and I'm gonna go back to college."

Kelly also looked to the division rival Giants and their coach Tom Coughlin, who has two Super Bowls to his name and can seemingly do no wrong.

"I hope to be like [Coughlin] someday, to win enough games so no one questions whether I want to stay here or not," he said.

Kelly will get a good look at Coughlin and the Giants (3-2) when the teams meet Monday night. Philadelphia comes in off of a 39-17 drubbing of New Orleans, but its 2-3 start has been a disappointment.

Despite the sub-.500 record, it hasn't exactly led to Kelly wanting to skip town to take over at USC. All Kelly wants is to right the ship in Philadelphia and for Sarkisian, his friend, to get the help he needs.

"A friend of mine in Steve Sarkisian is dealing with a big issue right now," Kelly said, "and I wish him the best."
