Tonight at 8:07 p.m. ET the Royals will host the Astros in Game 5 of the ALDS in Kansas City on Fox Sports 1, in a matchup that can be live streamed free by clicking this link. Royals fans can listen to the radio broadcast on KCSP 610, while Astros fans may do likewise on SportsTalk 790.
The Royals will hand the ball to midseason acquisition Johnny Cueto (11-13, 3.44 ERA), while the Astros will send Collin McHugh (19-7, 3.89 ERA) to the hill in a rematch of Game 1.
Cueto was brought in to win games like this, filling the void left by 2014 ace James Shields. Cueto’s short tenure with the Royals thus far has been shaky at best. He’s gone 4-7 with a 4.64 ERA in the regular season, and he gave up four earned runs in six inning in Game 1 of this ALDS. Cueto’s postseason career is not one of triumph; he’s 0-2 in for career playoff starts, having given up four runs in 3 1/3 innings in the 2014 Wild Card game, and lasting just one hitter in a 2013 NLDS start.
McHugh went six innings and gave up just two runs in Game 1, his postseason debut, and also his first start of the year vs. the Royals.
