The Dolphins learned the error of their ways, firing head coach Joe Philbin on Monday. The former head coach leaves the team with a regular season record of 24-28.

He also leaves with a .500 record in the postseason (0-0), but only because he was never able to lead Miami to a playoff berth. The job for owner Stephen Ross now is to find a suitable replacement who can.

Ryan Tannehill Can't Throw Better Than An Old Dan Marino

Hue Jackson

The first place to look is in Cincinnati. Hue Jackson has done a commendable job as offensive coordinator for the Bengals this season, transforming Andy Dalton into the best possible version of himself. The QB is completing 67.2 percent of his passes for 1,187 yards and 10 total TDs.

The improvement in his decision making is seen through his one INT through four games, something Ryan Tannehill can benefit from at this juncture in his career.

Kyle Shanahan

The same can be said for Kyle Shanahan. The 35-year-old is in his first tenure as Falcons offensive coordinator. Matt Ryan has played as an MVP-type QB under him, completing 67.1 percent of his passes for 1,202 yards and six TDs.

The Dolphins would be his first-ever head coaching position, working with the Buccs, Texans, Redskins and Browns in an assistant capacity since 2004.

Jon Gruden

It's virtually impossible to imagine Jon Gruden on the sidelines again, but if Stephen Ross wants to invigorate the Dolphins fan base, it's the type of hire he must make.

That said, Jackson and Shanahan are more realistic options.
