It was the first time the league finished a calendar month without any player arrests being reported since 2009, per Mike Rosenberg. Not only that, it was only the second time it transpired in the league’s history.

Looks like Roger Goodell got his message across after all.

For 30 consecutive days, NFL players fought the urge. The need to indulge in marijuana to alleviate the rigors of being an NFL player, the temptation to down an entire bottle of alcohol and then excessively speed through a school zone at 7 a.m. and the urge to assault an ex-girlfriend on top of loaded weapons was no more.

Kudos, NFL. Looks like there’s a place for you in society after all.

This obviously falls into the category of getting credit for something you should already be doing -- much like the father who wants praise for raising his children. This should be the norm, not the outlier.

It’s imperative the NFL keeps that in mind, rather than champion Sept. 2015 as some sort of testament to the league’s new direction.
