Wrigley Field Trespassers: Two Men Arrested For Trying To Steal Ivy From Chicago Cubs' Stadium [VIDEO]

Two men were arrested Monday for trespassing into historic Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, and attempting to steal ivy off of the famous home run wall in the outfield.

According to ESPN, Pennsylvania natives and 25 year olds Kevin Burge and Steven Gudknecht were both apprehended by police and charged with misdemeanor trespassing after being arrested at 3:45 a.m. CT at the stadium.

"When you have two individuals intent on committing foul play, they are going to find a way," Cubs spokesman Julian Green said, according to The Chicago Tribune. "These were just some fans who probably wanted to take a piece of Wrigley Field back home."

According to ESPN, both men entered into the stadium by squeezing through metal security bars and were spotted by security guards on closed-circuit surveillance cameras.

Green said there was no damage to the property of Wrigley and that the two baseball fans were just looking to take a piece of the historic ballpark back to Chalfont, Pa. with them. Wrigley was built in 1914 and has housed the Cubs since 1916. The ivy has appeared at the stadium since1937.

Wrigley hasn't been home to good baseball in recent years, as the Cubs (58-79) haven't made the postseason since 2008 and sit in dead-last in the National League Central division, 22 games behind the first place Pittsburgh Pirates.

Wrigley was home to one of the most infamous incidents in baseball history when Cubs fan Steve Bartman reached over the stands and interrupted then-Cubs outfielder Moises Alou's attempt at catching a fly ball with the Cubs five outs away from making it to the World Series in Game 6 of the NLCS. The play led to the Cubs losing the game and eventually the NLCS to the Florida Marlins the next night in Game 7.
