What They're Saying
Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich on his assessment of Michigan State, per Mlive.com: "[QB] Connor Cook is fantastic, and he can do everything. Their approach could be two tight [ends] and smash it, or five-wide empty and throw it. It's a huge challenge from a schematic standpoint."
Michigan St. offensive line coach Mark Staten on his team's schematics: "I think our offense has become like a miss-mosh; it's become some of this, some of that. Downhill-attack you is the style we like to put our Spartan brand on, but there are really different ideas that we've liked and we've learned that we've put into effect."
Performance To Examine
Cook struggled in Michigan St.'s 37-24 victory over Western Michigan in Week 1. The senior was 15-of-31 for 256 yards and TDs.
Despite his lack of accuracy, QB guru George Whitfield insists he is the best QB in the country.
"When you look across the country and you name top, elite quarterbacks, that 24-3 record [Cook has] means something," Whitefield said, per Mlive.com. "It means something."
It won't mean anything if Cook fails to push it to 25-3 on Saturday.
