Recap: Juventus continued to struggle on Sunday, falling 2-1 to AS Roma.
Weather interfered the first 45 minutes of the contest. Temperatures exceeding 90°F plagued a first half that combined for one shot on target. The pace would improve after the break. A free-kick stunner from Miralem Pjanic opened the affair in the 61st minute. Edin Dzeko would seal the 2-1 victory just 18 minutes later.
Paulo Dybala responded with a goal of his own in the 87th minute, but of zero consequence. Juventus remain winless two matches into the season.
Key Moment: Despite their woes, Juventus found an equalizer in stoppage time. Unfortunately, Wojciech Szczesny was there to parry it to safety.
Man of the Match: Pjanic was unlucky to finish with just one goal. The 25-year-old rang the post in the first half, but managed to account for nine percent of Roma’s possession.
Lesson Learned: Max Allegri’s pragmatism cost him. Deploying a 3-5-2, the Juventus boss opted for a midfield trio of Simone Padoin, Stefano Sturaro and Paul Pogba. For all their quality, neither are truly capable of prominently featuring in an advanced role.
Juventus were unable to link up with Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic as a result.
Roberto Pereyra was substituted on for the final 20 minutes—and actually helped Juventus find their only goal of the season with an assist—but the tactical shift proved to be too little too late.
Allegri hoped to escape Rome with a point when he had the talent to collect three.

Up Next: Both clubs return to action on Sept. 13, with Juventus hosting Chievo and Roma traveling to Frosinone.
