Liverpool Transfer News: Mario Balotelli 'Happy' At AC Milan, Needs To 'Prove Himself' For Liverpool Return

Mario Balotelli will have one final opportunity to prove his worth in European football, joining AC Milan from Liverpool on a season-long loan. The 25-year-old arrived at Casa Milan on Tuesday and is excited about the prospects of 2015.

"I am happy to be back," Balotelli said, per AC Milan's official website. "I don't have much to say because I just need to train and prove myself. Physically I am fit, but I need to train with the squad. I am very motivated, but I need to work hard and talk less.

"I always hoped I would return to Milan," he added, having played for the Rossoneri in 2013. "The club hold a special place in my heart. I just want to get back to work and have a good season. I have to work and that is it."

For Balotelli, his loan in Milan must work and that is it. Another failure of a season will end his time at the top flight of European football. Champions League clubs across the continent—specifically La Liga, Ligue 1, Premier League, Serie A and Bundesliga—will look past a striker with a troubled past.

Especially if his productivity has dissipated. (Balotelli finished his entire Liverpool campaign with just one league goal).

But if Balotelli can recoup the form that famously allowed him to lift the 2012 Premier League title with Manchester City, Liverpool will be the greatest beneficiary. A front line featuring Balotelli, Christian Benteke and the talismanic talents of Philippe Coutinho will punish English defenses en route to the club's first-ever Barclay's Premier League title.
