Bill Simmons Podcast News: Show To Return In October Under New Name; Potential Guests [VIDEO]

It won't be the B.S. Report, but Bill Simmons' podcast is set to return in October.

Simmons took to Twitter to reveal that his popular podcast will return on Oct. 1 with a brand new name, due to ESPN having the rights to the B.S. Report, and with new sponsors supporting it. The former ESPN employee didn't specify where his listeners can find the podcast just yet.

Bill Simmons' Feud With ESPN Escalates

Simmons didn't reveal who his first guest will be on his new podcast, but there has been a lot of speculation circulating in the wake of his big announcement. Such possibilities range from frequent guest Cousin Sal to fellow former ESPN employee Rachel Nichols, who has also been known to bash NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

The former Grantland editor in chief recently signed a huge television deal with HBO, believed to be in the neighborhood of $6 million. Simmons and ESPN couldn't come to terms on a new contract, and the network parted ways with him after he appeared on the "Dan Patrick Show" in May and repeatedly ripped the NFL.

NFL Owners Pressure Roger Goodell To Uphold Tom Brady's Suspension

He was previously suspended by the sports network for three weeks for calling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a liar during the Ray Rice scandal. Simmons contested on his podcast that he believed Goodell was being dishonest about not knowing what was on the tape when Rice punched his then-fiancée Janay Palmer.

Simmons appearing on Patrick's show on a rival network drew the ire of ESPN as he appeared on a rival station to share his opinion. His deal with HBO will see him create podcasts, videos and features for the network and they will be available on the main HBO network as well as on the HBO Go and HBO Now services.

His talk show on the premium cable network is set to air in 2016, while his contract kicks-in in October.

"It's no secret that HBO is the single best place for creative people in the entire media landscape," Simmons said in a statement when the pact was announced, according to AwfulAnnouncing.com. "From the moment I started talking to Michael and Richard [Plepler, HBO chairman and CEO], it was hard to imagine being anywhere else."
