Matt Barnes, Rihanna Update: NBA Players Insists He's Not Lying About Relationship [VIDEO]

With the help of former Clippers teammate Glen 'Big Baby' Davis, Matt Barnes is sticking to his guns about his Rihanna comments.

Barnes appeared on the Jim Rome Show and defended comments he made earlier in the week about having a relationship that he described as seeing "where it goes" with the pop superstar, Dime Mag reported.

"You live and you learn. When you're in a situation like this and, you know, you just learn," Barnes told Rome. "You just got to keep stuff to yourself obviously. But the way I'm putting it right now, I'm too grown to lie, you know what I mean. It is what it is, I'm going to let this blow by like everything else blows by."

Davis appeared on ESPN's His and Hers and corroborated Barnes' story to the extent that Rihanna knows him and has his phone number. He didn't confirm or deny much more than that.

TMZ Sports originally caught up with Barnes last week, based on rumors that the two were spending time together. TMZ reported two sources saying that Barnes and Rihanna went out on two dates but added that Rihanna seemed to be dating Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.

Barnes denied the two were dating, saying, "Rihanna and I are friends right now, we'll see where it goes."

Rihanna took to her Instagram account to blast Barnes, indicating among other things that the two never have met.

"I just smiled. I just smiled, that's it. What can you do?" Barnes told Rome. "At the end of the day we're all grown-ups. Like I said, I'm too grown to be lying about stuff but life is life ... My upbringing just doesn't allow me to have that kind of stuff in it. Life, sports whatever it is I'm just about the truth. I'm always going to be me, even if you know sometimes my mouth gets me in trouble. I speak on things I feel passionately about. So love me or hate me I'm going to be me regardless."
