John Cena Injury Update: WWE Superstar Announced On Raw That He'll Undergo Triceps Surgery, Will Miss 4-6 Months

John Cena's main catch phrase is "You Can't See Me," and for the next four to six months of WWE programming, the slogan rings true.

Cena announced on Monday' Night Raw from the Honda Center in Anaheim, that he needs surgery on his injured left triceps and will be taking extended time off to allow the injury to heal. The impending announcement, which was expected after reports last week indicated his injury required surgery, was confirmed through the WWE Universe's Twitter account simultaneously.

Though Cena missing time was obvious as it was reported last week shortly after he released a tweet that compared his wound to a "baseball" on his arm, Cena still powered through the injury and delivered a great match with challenger Daniel Bryan at Sunday's SummerSlam pay-per-view from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Bryan won the belt cleanly from Cena before Randy Orton cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the title after a heel turn from Triple H, who was the guest referee for the Bryan vs. Cena clash.

Cena wore a large pad over his left arm to protect his triceps throughout the match.Cena, who originally won the title from The Rock at WrestleMania XXIX at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, could possibly miss the rest of 2014, and the WWE will attempt to chug along without him. Bryan is currently in a feud with company CEO Vince McMahon, corporate champion Orton, Triple H and his wife and Vince's daughter Stephanie McMahon, and that seems to be the main storyline direction the WWE is heading in without Cena.

It will be an interesting end of the year for the WWE without its highly criticized torch bearer, but it could lead to a fresh change for the product while Cena heals.
