Sting WWE Rumors: 'Stone Cold' Says He'd Love To Wrestle 'The Vigilante' In 2K16 Video Game [VIDEO]

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Sting is a fantasy match that the WWE Universe has dreamed about and the Texas Rattlesnake recently discussed facing The Vigilante in the WWE 2K16 video game.

3 Potential Long-Term Feuds For Kevin Owens

Austin spoke to WWE.com about the game, which is set to be released on Oct. 27 in North America and Oct. 30 in Europe, and he touched on facing-off with Sting at the Baltimore Arena in the video game.

"Man, the Baltimore Arena... I was talking about this just the other day on my podcast," Austin told the website. "Man, that was a rough building. A fun building to work that just hadn't been upgraded in such a long time. I think Baltimore was really, in Sting's WCW days, a stronghold for him. Chicago was that stronghold for me. And don't get me wrong: Sting was over wherever he went. I think the guy is WWE Hall of Fame material. But I do believe that that was one of his strongholds way back in the day."

He continued: "So, that man, I tell you what, that ain't a bad matchup and he's another guy that I worked with many times down in WCW. When he was on top, I was kind of a mid-card guy and we had great matches. It would be great to play "Stone Cold" vs. Sting in any arena you can pick, and if you're going to pick the Baltimore Arena, I'm down with that."

While Austin is only discussing fantasy matchups, there has been a lot of speculation that the WWE Hall of Famer will return to the squared circle, likely at WrestleMania 32 in his home state of Texas at AT&T Stadium on April 3, 2016.

Austin exacerbated these rumors himself when he talked to Paul Heyman on his WWE Network podcast earlier this year and hinted at a possible clash with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32.

Austin and Heyman have since backed off the comments and said there was nothing to them, but there is a lot of speculation surrounding a return to the ring for the six-time WWE Champion.

The WWE 2K16 cover star hasn't competed in a WWE ring since losing to The Rock at WrestleMania XIX in 2003 due to neck issues.

The WWE Universe also is hoping to see Sting back in the ring after the WCW icon and TNA Hall of Famer made his long-awaited WWE debut in a losing effort to Triple H at WrestleMania 31 this past March.

There were rumors Sting may team up with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam to battle The Wyatt Family, but there have been reports that plans have changed.

While Austin and Sting may never return to the ring, let alone face each other, fans can see The Vigilante and The Rattlesnake clash on WWE 2K16.
