The third day of the 2015 Quicken Loans National came to a close on Saturday, with Kevin Chappell and Troy Merritt opening a one-stroke lead.
Rickie Fowler remains in third place, while Charles Howell III, Jason Bohn and two others remain in distance at 12-under par. Below is a recap of the third day's event.
What They're Saying
Rickie Fowler (via PGA Tour): "Little frustrated with a couple mistakes that I made out there today, but excited about where I'm at. I had some good looks. There were two swings, par 3 on the back started out, No. 11 and then on 17. Just bad swing at the wrong time. We'll get rid of those for [Sunday] and have a clean round, and see if we can get the job done."
Troy Merritt: "The biggest difference was the first two days, I missed 11 putts inside of 12 feet. Today, they all went right in the hole. Golf is a funny game like that."
Charles Howell III: "I'm driving the ball a lot better. That's one thing I've spent a lot of time working on. You got to drive the ball well to play nowadays with these new kids out here that hit it miles and hit driver everywhere and kind of the Rory McIlroy approach to it. You have to do that, and that part of my game has gotten a lot better."
