In the latest twist in the storyline between the two, The Bulgarian Brute savagely attacked The Showoff on the WWE's flagship show on Monday, kayfabe injuring his throat with a crutch.

Rusev revealed that his fractured foot has healed and he took on Fandango on SmackDown this week, showcasing new boots after sustaining the injury.

Following his win over Fandango, Rusev and Fandango's former valet Summer Rae appeared on SmackDown Fallout.

"We don't talk about Dolph Ziggler," Rusev said. "Dolph Ziggler got what Dolph Ziggler deserves, a broken throat. You will not see Dolph Ziggler anytime soon. And as far as tonight, all I wanted to do is test my new boots in the ring. And Fandango's got it coming it's a hot Summer."

Summer Rae then chimed in with her opinion as she ragged on Fandango.

"And as for Dango," Summer Rae said while leaning on Rusev. "Nothing compares to the new."

The WWE followed up on Ziggler's storyline injury and said he was out indefinitely with a throat ailment, which could have something to do with his contract status being in limbo.

After Rusev and Lana split earlier this year, she was immediately paired with Ziggler to set up a feud between the Ravishing Russian's former and current charges.

Rusev then sustained a real-life foot injury, causing the rivalry to be filled with promos rather than matches and Summer Rae was added to the fray two weeks ago.

It seemed to be building to either a mixed tag team match or a Rusev vs. Ziggler encounter, but the WWE finally has Rusev healthy and chose to write off Ziggler.

Rusev, judging by the video, is still taking aim at Ziggler.
