Manchester United—the undisputed kings of silly season—returned to the news on Thursday. Unfortunately for the club, it was far from positive, with injuries and players demanding an exit plaguing the headlines.
Below is the latest updates and transfer gossip for the summer's most active club.
Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez
Whatever valuation Manchester United put on Chicharito must be reconsidered. The 27-year-old broke his collarbone playing for Mexico on Wednesday. A simple warm-up game against Honduras will cost him four weeks and possibly the Gold Cup for Mexico.
"It will have an impact on the group, but we're just thinking about what is ahead," Mexico head coach Miguel Herrera said (via BBC). "This is an unfortunate situation we cannot change."
According to Spanish outlet AS (via Daily Star), Hernandez's agent Eduardo Hernandez has been in talks with Orlando city of MLS and will travel to Florida for further talks about his client's future. Liverpool, AC Milan, Lazio, West Ham and Wolfsburg are all reportedly interested.
Angel Di Maria
Another player looking to depart Old Trafford is Angel Di Maria. According to reports in France (via the Express), the Argentine has told United in private he wants to leave the club. Paris Saint-Germain have shown advanced interest, offering £42.5 Million.
Di Maria joined United last summer for a British record £59.7 million.
Nicolas Otamendi
Sergio Ramos is the center-back of choice for United, but Nicolas Otamendi could be the club's reality. According to his agent (via Manchester Evening News), the 27-year-old will be playing for another club long before his Spanish counterpart.
"Before Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid—if he does leave—Otamendi will be already playing for another club," Otamendi's agent said.
Per the reports, the announcement could be made soon after the Copa America final on Saturday.
