Terrelle Pryor Rumors: QB Bust Desperate To Salvage Career as Wide Receiver? [VIDEO]

Terrelle Pryor is going back on his word.

After saying last month that if he couldn't play quarterback in the NFL, he couldn't, period, Pryor now says he is willing to switch positions after the Cincinnati Bengals announced his release earlier this week, according to his agent.

NFL.com reported that Drew Rosenhaus told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport that Pryor - on the eve of his 26th birthday, is willing to move to wide receiver in an attempt to remain in the league.

The former Ohio State star was a supplemental draft choice of the Oakland Raiders in 2011. He played 15 games with 10 starts in three seasons with the Raiders. He completed 56.3 percent of passes for 1,953 yards with nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions during his Raiders career.

He was not signed with an NFL team last season. He went to Cincinnati in the offseason in the hopes of latching on with offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, who was head coach of the Raiders when the team took Pryor in the 2011 supplemental draft.

"The Bengals were his last shot," NFL.com reported, "as offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has been one of his biggest boosters."

Pryor's 4.4-second speed in the 40-yard dash is especially impressive, considering his 6-foot-5, 235-pound frame. Rosenhaus told ProFootballTalk.NBCSports.com that "there is extensive interest in Pryor as a receiver."

Last year, he explained his preference to remain quarterback, PFT reports.

"I don't know how to catch," Pryor said last June, while with the Seahawks. "I've been a quarterback my whole life."

NFL.com sounded skeptical that the move would keep Pryor in the league.

"Either way, he'll be forced to learn a new position at the highest level of football against defensive backs who have spent most of their lives mastering the nuances of their own position.

It will be an interesting experiment."
