Heisman Trophy Winner Johnny Manziel's NCAA Investigation Already Affects Texas A&M Aggies' Status in Las Vegas Sports Books

The effects of the investigation into whether Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel accepted a five-figure payment for signing autographs  in Miami before the BCS National Championship game in January extend beyond College Station, Texas.

They go all the way to Las Vegas.

The Sporting News reported Sunday night the just the presence of a probe into possible Manziel misconduct has prompted two Las Vegas casino sports books, the LVH SuperBook and Wynn Las Vegas to remove the Aggies' regular-season win total off their wagering propositions.

Texas A&M had been projected to win 9.5 games, according to the sports books, prior to Manziel's investigation. Bettor wager whether A&M would win more or fewer than 9.5 games.

The casinos also removed all Games of the Year involving the Aggies.

"It's hard to believe he could be this dumb," SuperBook assistant manager Ed Salmons told The Linemakers on Sporting News. LVH had yet to remove Texas A&M's odds of winning the BCS championship at 15-to-1.

ESPN's "Outside the Lines" broke the story of the investigation earlier Sunday, citing two sources who claimed to have witnessed Manziel signing a contract with autograph broker Drew Tieman for the five-figure sum, though neither witnessed any exchange of money.

The sources said Tieman approached Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy Winner, on Jan. 6 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to watch the BCS title game between Alabama and Notre Dame, "Outside the Lines" reported.

According to Salmons, the sports books would repost the Texas A&M win total at 6 or 6.5 wins. He added that Manziel's presence would add a touchdown to any game involving the Aggies.

Manziel led the Aggies to an 11-2 record last season and accounted for 47 touchdowns last season. According to The Sporting News, the Aggies have just one other quarterback on the roster who has taken a snap in a college football game.

Junior Matt Joeckel, brother of offensive tackle and No. 2 2013 NFL draft pick Luke Joeckel of the Jacksonville, Jaguars, had completed 5 of 11 passes for 42 yards during his college career.
