Caroline Wozniacki Update: Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario Wants To Return As Coach [VIDEO]

Caroline Wozniacki had her most positive result during the clay-court season right after working with Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in a limited-time capacity.

Now, Sanchez-Vicario is angling to coach the former No. 1 player full-time.

USA TODAY Sports reported that Sanchez-Vicario, the Spaniard who won four grand slams - including three French Opens - during her playing days, is looking to get back into the game in an advisory capacity.

"Now that my kids are older, I want to get back (and coach) a little," she said in a one-on-one interview. "It was an opportunity for me to help Caroline before the clay court season. I spoke with her and said that I would prefer to talk again at the end of the season, because I don't believe in starting something in the middle of it."

Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario halts working relationship with Caroline Wozniacki?

With Sanchez-Vicario's assistance, Wozniacki advanced to the finals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany in April that included a win over No. 2 Simona Halep in the semifinals.

Wozniacki reached the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open before losing to No. 3 Maria Sharapova. Sanchez-Vicario left, and Wozniacki proceeded to lose two of her next three matches, including in the second round of the French Open.

Sanchez-Vicario might be a significant asset to Wozniacki, based on the results of their limited partnership.

"If you want to do something good (with a player), you need to take that time to prepare for what's next," Sanchez-Vicario said. "The middle of the season doesn't work. (Wozniacki and I) are going to talk again at the end of the year. If it doesn't happen, then maybe I can work with another top player in the future. I'm looking forward to helping another player win a Grand Slam and become the No. 1 player in the world. Why not? The door is open."

Wozniacki, who has yet to win a Grand Slam, has an interesting decision ahead.
