New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey has allowed one or fewer runs in 13 starts this season, but has only amounted eight wins in 2013, and had his latest no-decision in the night cap of a day-night double header against the Nationals Friday.
In those 13 games, Harvey has just six wins while enduring one loss and six no-decisions, meaning Harvey has seven non-wins in games where he let up one or fewer runs.
Harvey completed the first year in the majors Friday night, and and allowed just one unearned run before suffering with yet another no-decision. Harvey was left with his 10th no-decision in 21 starts this season.
The Mets ended up losing to the Nationals 2-1 Friday when reliever LaTroy Hawkins served up a walk-off homerun off the bat of Ryan Zimmerman
Still, Harvey is taking a team-first approach, not worrying about his personal win-loss record, just trying to do what he can to help the team win.
"My job is to go out there and just put up zeroes," Harvey said after the game, according to ESPN. "It's a tough loss for all of us."
Harvey, who started for the National League at the All-Star Game on July 16 in his home ballpark at Citi Field, is 8-2 in his first full season with the Mets. Harvey tops the majors with 164 strikeouts in 21 starts, is second in the majors with a 2.11 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP and has only walked 29 batters while striking out 164.
Harvey maintains that he's not frustrated with the no-decisions, but just wants the team to win.
