For the second straight year, Daniel Bryan forfeited a major WWE Championship following WrestleMania due to an injury, but "The Beard" has vowed to get back into the ring.
Backstage News On Paige's Return To The WWE
Bryan is dealing with a shoulder injury and he revealed on Monday Night RAW this week that there is no current timetable for his return following an MRI and thus he had to relinquish the Intercontinental Championship.
Bryan won the gold at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 at Levi's Stadium in the Bay Area by defeating six other men in a Ladder Match, but much like his WWE World Heavyweight Championship victory last year, it was short lived.
Projected Card For WWE Elimination Chamber 2015
"The Beard" defeated Batista and Randy Orton to leave the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion last April at WrestleMania XXX, but had to forfeit that belt due to neck surgery that caused him to miss the rest of 2014.
Bryan has vowed to return stronger than ever and he took to Instagram to post a picture of himself and his dog Josie while saying he's training to return.
"Flew home, picked up @josie_the_frenchie and then headed straight to physical therapy," Bryan wrote on his official Instagram account. "Working as hard as I can to try to get back. Meanwhile, Josie just wants a nap."
Bryan returned to the WWE in January and participated in the Royal Rumble Match, but he was quickly eliminated much to the dismay of his fans so that the company could clear him out of the way for Roman Reigns' big win.
The creator of the YES Movement then fell to the leader of the Roman Empire at Fastlane in February before being put in the Ladder Match at WrestleMania.
Bryan's Intercontinental Championship win along with John Cena capturing the United States Championship were part of a plan by the WWE to bring credibility back to its midcard titles, but "The Beard's" reign was cut short.
Now, a new Intercontinental Champion will be crowned on May 31 when the Elimination Chamber event returns to the WWE Network, but there are no updates thus far on who will compete for the vacant gold in the demonic structure.
Bryan may be down for now, but he's optimistic he'll return better than ever.
