PGA Tour 2015: Wells Fargo Championship 2015, Preview, Favorites and Predictions

Rickie Fowler claimed victory at the 2015 Players Championship on Sunday. Now, the focus turns to the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Relive Rickie Fowler's Victory at The Players Championship

Preview

The Defending Champion: J.B. Holmes shot rounds of 70, 67, 66 and 71 in 2014, finishing the tournament 14-under par and the slimmest margin of victory possible.

The Course: Quail Hollow Club, a Par 72 course with a distance of 7,562 yards.

The Stakes: With a total purse of $7.1 million, the winner will walk home with $1.3 milion share and 500 FedExCup points.

The Favorites

Rory McIlroy: Jordan Spieth enjoyed his flavor-of-the-month rise following The Masters, but McIlroy quickly reminded everyone who is still No. 1 in the world. The 26-year-old has four top-10 finishes in his last six events, including a victory in the Match Play Championship.

Jim Furyk: Lost in Holmes' glory from last year was the effort put forth by Jim Furyk. A previous winner, Furyk finished second by a single shot in 2014 and is carrying momentum from his victory at Hilton Head.

Henrik Stenson: After a scorching March—one that included three top-five finishes—Stenson has experienced a dip in form. He'll look to build on his tied-for-17th finish at The Players Championship.

Prediction

The easy money is on McIlroy, but Stenson has shown signs of claiming his first TOUR win of the season. The 39-year-old followed consecutive fourth place finishes in March with an 18-under at the Arnold Palmer invitational. He is yet to finish an event over par and will pose a threat to golf's elite in Charlotte.
