Steve Nash Divorce: Lakers Guard Might Be Forced To Pay More Child Support For Three Young Kids

An Arizona court judge is contemplating requiring Los Angeles Lakers star Steve Nash to make greater child support payments to his ex-wife and three young children.

According to reports, a Court of Appeals panel’s ruling earlier this week found the presiding judge must at least consider ordering Nash to pay for more than the children’s “basic needs.” The court also upheld a judge's order barring the couple from disparaging each other through social media.

Since their split in 2011, Nash has described his ex as a “materialistic social climber,” who only wants to move their children from Arizona to Los Angeles to be on the Hollywood scene and to be in a state where she believes child support laws are much more favorable.

Attorneys for Nash stress he already pays all expenses for his children, including schooling and medical benefits, and feels L.A. would not be an ideal place to raise young children.

Court of Appeals officials stress the disparaging order would not violate the free-speech rights of Alejandra Amarilla Nash because both she and Nash previously agreed to limit their speech under their joint custody agreement.

Attorneys for Nash noted in the past Amarilla Nash has taken to Twitter to make “biting criticisms” of her ex.
