Clippers coach Doc Rivers was coy discussing Paul's status for Game 3, acknowledging he worked out on Thursday but refusing to say whether or not he'll play. Rivers said the "eye and feel test" will determine Paul's ability to go. If he can't Rivers can feel safe with his offense in the hands of forward Blake Griffin.
The 30 points and 14.5 rebounds through the first two games are impressive, but not altogether stunning. Griffin's 8.5 assists are eye-opening though, and make the Clippers that much scarier if Paul's able to return. Still, Griffin is no point guard and the Rockets were able to bottle up his playmaking in the second half of Game 2.
"Front-and-back double team. I wouldn't say they spaced it out. They clogged it up, to be honest," Griffin said. "We have to do a better job of reading that and reacting off of it. I have to do a better job of moving off the ball to get open."
The Clippers were outscored by 15 in the second half, and Harden felt the team's effort was as important as an adjustment in tactics. "We let Game 1 slip away and we didn't want that feeling for Game 2," Rockets guard James Harden said.
"It's going to be a tough two games in a row, but we've got our mojo now."
