Ray Rice, Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Jerry Jones Looking To Give Domestic Violence Abuser A 2nd Chance? [VIDEO]

The Dallas Cowboys let DeMarco Murray walk in free agency, and they have done little to address the hole that his departure has left on their roster. Many thought the team would select a running back in the draft, but the team instead focused on the offensive line and the defensive side of the ball.

Race Driving Chip Kelly's Roster Decisions?

As it currently stands, Darren McFadden is the number one back on the depth chart, which is a situation that the team would surely love to remedy. According to 247 Sports, the team could have a surprising remedy in store that fits in with their offseason theme of giving players second chances.

Ray Rice has been desperately searching for another chance in the NFL, but so far, few -- if any -- teams have shown interest in his services. That may be different for the Cowboys, however. The team has already signed Greg Hardy and considered trading for Adrian Peterson, which shows that they have a decided willingness to give players second chances.

Adrian Peterson Hoping For Miracle Dallas Trade

The strategy could certainly blow up in Jerry Jones' face, but Ray Rice could also provide a boost to a team that could contend for a Super Bowl in 2015. Dallas has the o-line to give Rice a chance to succeed, and it could prove to be a good match, as Greg Bedard of Sports Illustrated argued:

"Viewed as a toxic after his domestic violence suspension. His putrid season in 2013 wrongly blamed on him and not Baltimore's poor line play. Best fit: Cowboys. Good fallback should DeMarco Murray leave, and Dallas is used to spotlight Rice would bring."

Rice himself is willing to do whatever he can to make a new situation work, saying "I don't like to be singled out, I like to be part of the team, if they can understand that I'll do anything to help the situation and go out and give them the best football I got, I think I'll get a second chance."
