Kentucky Derby News: Wes Welker Bringing 'Undrafted' Back, Planning New Party As Well?

Wes Welker's NFL career is winding down, but he may already have a new gig lined up for himself. Welker has been an important figure in recent seasons because of his injury history, which involves a litany of concussions. In today's (allegedly) more health-aware NFL, a player like Welker becomes an interesting test case for whether or not the league should be able to mandate a player's retirement before he does irreparable damage to himself.

But Welker has other interests outside of football that he may get more into whenever he does finally decide to call it a career. Notably, he is into horse racing, and he even owns his own racehorse, which he named Undrafted - a reference to the fact that he made a career as an NFL wide receiver despite not hearing his name called on draft day.

Last year, Welker entered Undrafted into a race at Churchill Downs on the weekend of the Kentucky Derby (though not the Derby itself; his horse was too old to run in that one) and made a pretty decent chunk of change, which he then used to throw a pretty baller party.

According to TMZ, Welker will be back at Derby weekend again this year, and he once again has Undrafted set up to run in one of the races.

There is no word on whether Welker plans to once again be the life of the party while he is at the race, but he does want some revenge after Undrafted did not with his race last year.

Welker's horse is running the same race again this time around, and it is victory or bust for the five-year old gelding.

After the great time he had last year, why wouldn't Welker want to go back?
