Jim Harbaugh was a good coach in his four years with San Francisco. He led the 49ers to three NFC championship games and one Super Bowl appearance, and never had a losing record with the team.
However, Harbaugh's constant competitive fire and intensity reportedly wore some players out after a while, contributing to problems in the locker room and with the front office. One player, 49ers guard Alex Boone, went so far as to call Harbaugh "clinically insane."
Harbaugh isn't the first coach to bring that type of combative or competitive attitude to sports, and he won't be the last.
Here are five other coaches in sports who wore out their welcome in various spots due to their strong personalities.
