Jordan Spieth vs Rory McIlroy: The Game's Newest Star To Have Stiff Competition Against The WGC-Cadillac Match Play's Top Seeds

Seedings for the WGC-Cadillac Match Play were released on Monday, with Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson and Bubba Watson claiming the top four spots.

Jordan Spieth the Next Jack Nicklaus, Not Tiger Woods

The event, held at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, is only open to the Top 64 players in the Official World Golf Ranking. There are, however, exceptions. Withdrawals from Luke Donald (wedding) and Tim Clark (elbow), opened the door for Miguel Angel Jimenez (No. 65) and Francesco Molinari (No. 66).

But all eyes remain fixated on the game's newest star, Jordan Spieth.

The 21-year-old, never satisfied, has every intention of coming for Rory McIlroy's top seed.

"What really matters is our plan we put in place was able to tie the record and set other records," Spieth said (via Irish Examiner). "And that means the team that we have, some with little experience, including myself, and some with a lot of experience, the combination was the correct one and I know we can do it going forward."

"That's what we gives me a lot of confidence," he added. "To put it in perspective, we can win more because it didn't take us long to put the right formula together to win one. That's what's really, really cool."

"I don't plan on having a hangover tournament, by any means. Rory is No. 1 in the world. That is still in my mind."

The WGC-Cadillac Match Play will be played on April 29 and will be the second of four World Golf Championships in 2015.
