Tom Brady First Pitch Fail: Rob Gronkowski Claims Horrible Toss Was On Purpose? [VIDEO]

Rob Gronkowski was not in attendance on Monday when some members of the New England Patriots organization showed up at the home opener for the Boston Red Sox. He did, however, hear about what happened, namely that his quarterback bounced the ceremonial first pitch.

Gronk has obviously been on the receiving end of hundreds of throws from Tom Brady over the years, both in games and in practice. And while Brady has undoubtedly had some errant pass attempts, he has never had anything resembling that first pitch happen, as far as Gronk knows.

According to NESN, the star tight end could barely believe his eyes when he saw the pitch. He knows Brady used to be a solid baseball player back in his younger days, and he is convinced that the horrible ceremonial pitch was just for show.

"I don't know how he didn't get it over the plate," Gronkowski said. "He might have done that on purpose. I'm gonna ask him. You gotta at least get it to the catcher without a bounce."

Brady made fun of his throw on his Facebook page, which makes its own sort of news regularly anyway. Gronk is also surprised at how well the 37-year old quarterback manages social media.

"Every day that I look on the Internet, I swear, he has a Facebook post and it's all over the place," Gronk said. "Throughout the season, this offseason, he's just doing an unbelievable job."
