The Philadelphia Eagles have led the NFL in headlines since the offseason hot stove first began to heat up in the week leading up to free agency. The team traded away star back LeSean McCoy, lured DeMarco Murray away from Dallas, released key veterans, and pulled off a quarterback swap. They may not even be done making moves.
Eagles Still Planning To Trade Up For Mariota?
The man at the center of all of the roster turnover is head coach Chip Kelly. He now has final say over the roster, and he has shown no qualms about using that power to remake it as he sees fit. But some are questioning whether or not he is making wise decisions.
That list is not exactly an enviable one. It's full of of people that are always in the headlines during the offseason and rarely had anything to show for their efforts during the year. Only Rex Ryan had any real measure of success, reaching back-to-back AFC Championship Games before a depleted Jets roster made it a struggle to be anything but terrible each year.
Dallas Drafting 'The Next DeMarco Murray?'
Kelly has had success in his first two years, and he has earned the benefit of the doubt. But if his moves do not pay off, then Philadelphia may want to rethink their decision to allow him to have final say on personnel. Many other coaches have tried to "shop for the groceries" as Bill Parcells once put it, but few have been able to make it work over the long run.
