Philadelphia Eagles Marcus Mariota Rumors: Birds May Trade Up To Jets Spot If 2014 Heisman Falls? [VIDEO]

Regardless of how smart you think that the Philadelphia Eagles have been this offseason with their personnel moves, it is hard to deny that they have certainly been dominating the headlines with their tremendous amount of roster overturn, including among star players.

Jets Planning To Snag Jameis Winston?

But since the initial free agent frenzy died down, the Eagles have been relatively quiet. According to Metro, that does not necessarily mean that they are done wheeling and dealing though. The team has danced around talk about trading up for Oregon prospect (and Chip Kelly recruit) Marcus Mariota, but new rumors are suggesting that Philadelphia still may play that game, despite talk from the organization saying that they are satisfired with Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez under center.

There has been a lot of talk about what the Titans will do with the second pick, and they could very well take Mariota there or trade the pick to a team that wants him. Washington has also said that they will pick Mariota if he falls to fifth. But one team that has drawn great interest is the New York Jets, who have the sixth pick.

Dallas Drafting 'The Next DeMarco Murray?'

Many have suggested that the Jets would pick Mariota at six or that they would try to trade up to second. However, an anonymous source said that it's "highly unlikely" that Mariota ends up with the Jets because they are not overly excited about drafting him. If he falls to them at six, the source said that the "Jets will be shipping that pick away."

Apparently the Eagles think that they have the resources to move up to the sixth spot.

"Philadelphia would make that move and pay that price. We're talking multiple picks and a player," the source said. "The Jets would be open to moving the pick and the Eagles have internally prepared to move up in the draft. There are contingencies in place and they know that Marcus is that perfect fit."

The source asserted with "100 percent certainty" that if Mariota is available at No. 6, then the Eagles will pull the trigger on a trade to draft him.

"The Eagles covet Marcus and rightly so. He's a great fit for their offense," the source said. "This could be a case where the Jets could cash in and would be willing to do so. Not quite Ricky Williams level but we're talking multiple picks and perhaps a player."
