Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Next DeMarco Murray Targeted In Middle Rounds Of 2015 Draft?

The Dallas Cowboys have been linked to many different rumors about their running back situation this offseason. The first was that they would let DeMarco Murray walk, which turned out to be true. None of the other speculation has happened yet, but the other big rumor is that the team is planning to trade for Minnesota Vikings superstar Adrian Peterson.

But according to The Dallas Morning News, the team may be planning to use the draft to find their new starting running back, and they may not even be looking at the highly hyped prospects like Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley. Instead, the Cowboys may have their sights set on the young man that they think will become the next DeMarco Murray.

Indiana's Tevin Coleman should be a mid-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, and he may very well end up in Dallas. Back before the scouting combine, NFL analyst Mike Mayock said Coleman, "is a little like McFadden from the Oakland Raiders. Upright, explosive kid. He gets a gash and he can take it to the house. ... He's a difference maker. He's a home run hitter."

Coleman himself agrees with the assessment, and he said so at the Scouting Combine.

"That's kind of my style of back - DeMarco Murray or Darren McFadden," Coleman said. "They are great backs; I look up to them. That's kind of how I run."

Coleman lit up opposing defenses in the Big Ten last year despite playing for a middling Indiana team, and he could easily have the same impact in the NFL, particularly if he gets to run behind an offensive line like Dallas's, which is arguably the best in the league.

The Cowboys have been pretty quiet about their draft agenda, but given how much success they had with the first DeMarco Murray, do not be surprised if they spend a pick on the guy that could be the next one.
