Rudy Giuliani, Former NYC Mayor Defends Alex Rodriguez, Inisists "He's A Legend"

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has at least one more request of the people of his city.

Giuliani told TMZ he doesn’t much care about all the performance- enhancing drug cheating allegations recently launched against Yankees’ star infielder Alex Rodriguez.  The bottom-line, he insists, is the former league MVP is a legend and fans should “stop dumping on him.”

“I happen to know him personally," Giuliani told TMZ. "He's a really good man."

Rodriguez is among at least as many as 20 players expected to be suspended for up to 100 games in the coming days stemming from an ongoing steroids abuse investigation involving the Miami-based Biogenesis Clinic.

Clinic founder Anthony Bosch agreed last month to cooperate with the investigation, prompting MLB officials to also seek to speak with similarly implicated former league MVP Ryan Braun late last week.  Reportedly, Braun refused to answer questions.

And Giuliani now insists it all needs to stop--- at least in the case of Rodriguez.  “I was one of the first to say that Yankee fans should not boo A-Rod,” he told TMZ. “He’s on our team. You gotta root for him. I think he’s one of the greatest players ever.”

Rodriguez has previously admitted to using banned substances from 2001 to 2003. Any formal suspensions stemming from this probe are not expected to take place before next week’s All Star game festivities.
