Chris Copeland Stabbed: Pacers Forward Hurt During NYC Nightclub Scuffle; Atlanta Hawks Players Also Arrested

The Indiana Pacers are in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Atlanta Hawks are contenders for the NBA titles.

But an unfortunate incident at New York’s 1 OAK nightclub may put a hitch in both these teams’ postseason pushes. According to the New York Daily News, Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed in the midsection by an assailant outside the party spot. His wife was slashed in the incident as well.

To make matters even crazier, Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefalosha were both subsequently arrested at the scene, reportedly for interfering with the police investigation.

A second woman who was not identified was also stabbed at some point.

The kerfluffe started at 4 a.m., the hour when almost nothing good ever comes. Investigators were unsure what, exactly, the argument that preceded the stabbing was about.

Both Copeland and his wife were treated at Bellvue Hospital and are in stable condition.

Antic and Sefalosha were charged with obstructing governmental administration.
