Derek Jeter Rumors: Yankees Star More Concerned With Players Tribune Website Than Hannah Davis?

Derek Jeter had a pretty charmed career as a pro baseball player. He spent two decades in the big leagues, he played for the most prominent franchise in the game, he won five World Series titles, and he is a lock to go into the Hall of Fame as soon as he is eligible. Now that he is retired, he is working to be equally successful in his new ventures.

Jeter is in a well-publicized relationship with model Hannah Davis, and although the two have been flying under the radar of late, things seem to be going well between them. It is anybody's guess how much longer that will be the case if Jeter keeps pouring his efforts into his business ventures.

Jeter has had a pretty good start to his digital media company, The Players' Tribune. Now, according to Fox News, he wants to build on that success by opening a restaurant that will be a spin-off of his company. The venue will be called The Players' Tribune Bar & Grill, and it will be in Tampa, Florida.

"Come beyond the velvet rope to enjoy the VIP atmosphere," reads a proposal document for the restaurant concept, which also adds that the place is "not a sports bar ... a sports lounge."

The food at the restaurant will be "upscale," and the promo package will feature an array of famous athletes. In addition, every table in the joint will have an iPad so that diners can check out The Players' Tribune website.

An overwhelming majority of new restaurants fail, but Jeter obviously hopes that his will be an exception. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban thinks that Jeter has what it takes to make the restaurant a success, according to TMZ.

There is no word on whether Jeter plans to ask Davis to help him promote the restaurant or be involved with it in any way. You would think that have a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl associated with the project would be good for business, but maybe the former Yankee captain does not see it that way. Or maybe he is just so focused on his new restaurant that Davis is being asked to take a backseat to it altogether.
