Carlos Ortiz, one of the men purported to be with Aaron Hernandez on the night he is alleged to have “executed” one-time associate Odin Lloyd is expected to turn state’s evidence against the former New England Patriots star at trial.

According to the Boston Herald, boyhood pal Ortiz is not only cooperating with investigators, they are heralding his assistance as a key development in the ongoing probe of the former Pro Bowl tight end.

Beyond directing cops to a Franklin “flop house” not far from Hernandez’s North Attleboro mansion, Ortiz alerted police to the clothing Hernandez is alleged to have been wearing the night of the slaying, including a white hooded sweatshirt and cranberry-colored baseball cap that were both recovered from the apartment.

The search also turned up 11 boxes of ammunition, a bag from Kay Jewelers, paychecks from the New England Patriots and Puma, a valet’s receipt from the W Hotel in Boston.

Hernandez’s barber Roberto Olivares also has been before a grand jury in the case and is said to be cooperating with police, court papers show. Hernandez is now being held without bail on first-degree murder charges.

The Herald has since reported Hernandez is thought to be paying for the attorneys of co-defendant Ernest Wallace.

Earlier this week, Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson also stated he plans to thwart Hernandez hopes of wedding fiancée Syayanna Jenkins while being held as state property.
